Purposeful Movement for Older Adults
This program has been developed to address a significant gap in the industry of Physical Activity Programs for older adults residing in Alberta communities. As the demographics of Alberta shift toward an aging majority, the demand for exercise/physical activity programs specifically designed for the older adult is continually increasing. This manual will provide practitioners and leaders with an exercise program appropriate and adaptable for Older Adults housed both within the community and seniors facilities.

Elders Moving Elders - Coming Fall/Winter 2025!
Supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors!

The New Horizons Program, Elders Moving Elders, focuses on bringing a SAFE, FUN, INCLUSIVE, and WELCOMING environment, that builds strong interpersonal relationships to promote sustainable development and growth for seniors.
It's a training and mentoring program for elders to support their peers in their communities to increase awareness, benefits and hands-on opportunities, along with portable equipment to be more active on a daily basis. This program will enhance knowledge, skills and confidence in leading safe, fun, and welcoming physical activity programs involving safe portable equipment. Physical Culture trains community elders and/or facility practitioners as leaders in this evidence-based, safe, physical activity program.
Portable equipment will be provided to all communities/facilities throughout the training. Various portable equipment to include (but not limited to):

Exercise balls

Resistance bands 
- 
Hand Weights 
-

Physical Culture will provide appropriate equipment for each community so will consider location-specific equipment requests.
